I got this cool new toy. Yes! A needle felting machine. Check out the scary business end.

I haven't played with it yet. I was too busy knitting this.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Bigfoot.

I actually knitted two of them and felted one. The pattern is Fuzzy Feet from knitty.com . I use this pattern when I teach my felted-slippers-and-mittens class which starts this Thursday. I seem to have neglected to take a picture of the felted one and now it is at the store as a sample. I will take a picture on Thursday and show it to you next time. Yarn: Cascade 220.

AND AT THE SAME TIME...

I accepted a commission to knit an earflap hat for someone to gift to their 16-year old daughter for Christmas. She likes brown. And black. And colours in general. Hmmm.

Caution: Professional stunt knitter with tight deadline. Serious injury may result if you attempt this at home.

I apologize for the dark photo. Click for bigger. Sitting on the mouse is the beginning of the hat. It is brown. I was pretty much trapped at my desk to knit this because I was using Fleece Artist sock merino leftovers double-stranded. Yup. Two balls of each colour and two colours at once because, you know, it had to be stranded knitting, of course. There is slightly more yarn on the desk that I actually used. Those two balls at the left front were the only new purchase, and I didn't use them. Here are the ones I did use. The blue ball got wound into two smaller balls after the pictures were taken.

I managed one in-progress shot before the sun set.

And then the next day I finished it, gave it a bath, and dried it overnight on the vent.

As a seat-of -the-pants experiment, I think it turned out pretty well.

But I'm not sure it's good enough. I need a consult. I'll let you know how it turns out. There is still plenty of time to knit another one. Which brings me to the LAST thing. Remember the little hat with the triangle edging? Now it looks like this.

Very productive. I think someone 16 years old will love that hat. What a great way to do that.

Wow - that machine looks like it would be FUN! Fast search seems it's not in the USA - bummer! I'd like to play too.

A needle-felting machine! I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Anyone should love the Fleece Artist hat, it's great.
