A-felting we will go

| | Comments (5)
Last Thursday I began teaching a 4-session class in knitting and felting bowls. To prepare, I made some before and after samples to show at the first class.

These were all knitted and felted last Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

A Variety of Bowls

Plus, there were unfelted samples of three of these for comparison. Rather than make this entry even more picture-heavy, you can see them all in my All About Felting photoset.

This weekend, including today, I made a few more things,

More felty goodness

and felted the unfelted samples from the week before.

Previously unfelted samples

Again, there are before and after shots in the All About Felting photoset.

Everything from the first batch and the white bowl were completely felted in my good old top-loading washer. The bobble bowl, coffee cup cozy and three sample bowls got tossed in with laundry and weren't completely felted so I finished them up the old-fashioned way.

The Tools

It was fun, and with help of a few found-around-the-kitchen-and-bathroom tools and shaping aids they turned out great. You should try it, but I'm warning you, it can be totally addicting. And later there will be embellishing!

They looks so good, so cute and well done! I'm better at felting knit items...maybe I should stick with that and embellish, too...great idea!

Oooh, those looked like little yellow roses...
so..some of those bowls looked like they were possibly knit with Patons SWS yarn... were they? the colourways make me think that.

Wow! You do make some of the PRETTIEST bowls! and that green one with the yellow baubles? love it!
I think my favourite one though.. is still the purple and green you made months and months ago, I think I dream about that bowl...
Now I'm going to check out your photoset...
