Yes, I know it's been three weeks since Rhinebeck. I've put off posting about it. I guess I didn't want to have to say that my second visit wasn't as much fun as the first. But it was still fun. I just didn't get to spend enough time with enough people. I think that in the future I will try to get to a few more of the smaller festivals, including New Hampshire in the Spring and Vermont in the Fall. To get more visiting time with far off blog buddies perhaps I will just take the time and go visit them. I might just get a hankerin' to pull weeds in Massachusetts, Utah, or even Oklahoma.

Today in Ottawa 30,000 people attended our National Act of Remembrance. I encourage you to watch the excellent coverage of the event produced by our national broadcasting team at the CBC. I find it remarkable that there is any televised event where the commentators respectfully keep silent for more than 30 minutes and just let the cameras tell the story.
Keep a box of tissues handy and don't miss Rabbi Bulka's speech (starts at about the 1 hour mark).
Last Thursday I began teaching a 4-session class in knitting and felting bowls. To prepare, I made some before and after samples to show at the first class.
These were all knitted and felted last Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Plus, there were unfelted samples of three of these for comparison. Rather than make this entry even more picture-heavy, you can see them all in my All About Felting photoset.
This weekend, including today, I made a few more things,

and felted the unfelted samples from the week before.
Again, there are before and after shots in the All About Felting photoset.
Everything from the first batch and the white bowl were completely felted in my good old top-loading washer. The bobble bowl, coffee cup cozy and three sample bowls got tossed in with laundry and weren't completely felted so I finished them up the old-fashioned way.

It was fun, and with help of a few found-around-the-kitchen-and-bathroom tools and shaping aids they turned out great. You should try it, but I'm warning you, it can be totally addicting. And later there will be embellishing!
