Happy New Year!

Thank you to everyone who entered my little impromptu contest. Now we just have to wait with bated breath for Stephanie to arrive at the December 31 total. In the meantime I'm rummaging through the stash for prizes. Trust me, there's good stuff in there.

And now for my 2006 year-end report.

I did finish the garter stitch blanket, a couple of weeks ago actually. Here is a crappy picture of it all spread out and a better picture (IMHO) of the blanket in its natural environment. As you can see, it has adapted nicely. I am sure that I heard a barely audible sigh of relief from the long-suffering, much-loved, threadbare-in-some-places-and-patched in-others quilt from babyhood that it was intended to replace.

As I mentioned here I recently taught a knit-and-felt-a-bowl class and so a couple more bowls were whipped up for that.

Lang Tosca. Yes it will felt, even though it is a 55/45 wool/acrylic blend.

Lett Lopi. Sheared on the outside after felting to make the colour work more visible.
Tip:
Use your own shaver, not somebody else's.

Before

  After

Our last class was this past Saturday and due to an unfortunate case of acute camnesia I didn't get any pictures of the wonderful variety of bowls that the ladies made, but I just want to say here, "Grrls, they were Awesome!" and I will try to get the pattern for the green and purple bowl up here on the blog soon. It will take me a while to translate this into something that makes sense.

In 2006 I also finished knitting the Very Colourful Hat, which in addition to being Very Colourful is also Very Warm and Very Silly. I like it a lot. It may be modeled later this week (after blocking and finishing).

And finally (phew! what a long post!) one more project was cast on in 2006. Perfect New Year's Eve fireside knitting, a Fleece Artist Soft Wrap in Rapunzel (out of production?) and Mo.

Hi! For some reason I went back to Laurie's comments and read what you wrote, and yes, here I am alive and well, well I guess. I mean, yes I am perfectly well, just a bit on the crazy side. Nothing new there. You should know that I have spent the last several weeks wanting felted bowls and baskets thanks to you. Where did you teach the class? I would definitely knit the pattern, and I don't even know what I would do with one, but I love them.

I hope to be posting by the end of the weekend. I went to do it last night, but my camera powered down and I couldn't get the pics, then there is my other camera that is lost. Somewhere in my house I think, although maybe not. The last time I saw it was in my family room, I took it out of my bag and it had Junior Mints melted to it. After that? Nothing. I hope it turns up, the house isn't that messy that I should lose a camera in it. Hmmm...

Happy New Year!

Sigh....I just jumped through the hoops to leave a comment, I don't remember having to do that last time...
Loving that hat! Talk about fun and bright...
The blankie is fabulous, looks to be very warm and cozy.
Dudette, that green and purple bowl...beyond stunning...and you're going to share the pattern? How cool and wonderful are you! Seriously, I need to make that bowl, it is the prettiest I've seen by far.

Love the bowls! Nice work and the hat is very cool, too.

Thanks for visiting, Paula, and for your kind words.

I love your bowls. The purple and green one is a stunner!
