First, the WIPs:
A very colourful hat with double-layered concave ear cozies. I've come to where the decreases need to begin and I have to decide how I want to do it. Not a good bus project.
never-ending nearly finished bias blanket. Since the picture was taken I finished ball 5 and am part way through ball 6 of 6.
And now, some FOs:
I am currently teaching an introductory felting class where we are making bowls. The big one is made from Lopi and the little one from Patons SWS.
The big bowl is about 8 inches (20 cm) across the top and was made from just less than one ball of Lopi (90 g, actually). The little bowl has about a 4 inch (10 cm) opening and was made from about 2/3 of one 85 g ball of Patons SWS. So if you still need a last minute inexpensive gift, these bowls would fit the bill. Essentially, you knit a stockinette hat with a 3-ridge garter stitch edge, and then felt it.
The SWS bowl looked like this before felting. I think it would have been a good hat for a 6-year old.
And after felting it is just so darn cute!
Not that the Lopi bowl isn't cute. It is. And as the Friendly Giant used to say, big enough "for two to curl up in".
