To Rhinebeck and Back
1,288. That's how many kilometres I drove going to Rhinebeck and back. It's a long way, especially driving alone, and at least half of it through rain that was, as another attendee put it, "biblical". But the highways were good, and apart from the sad lack of Tim Horton's, and the appallingly poor street signage in Poughkeepsie, I enjoyed the drive. It was totally worth it.
I left home at 10:30 Friday morning, and was in Poughkeepsie by 5:30 that afternoon. Then it took me about another 45 minutes to find the hotel. But when I did, I was greeted warmly by Norma and Sandy, who had graciously offered to share their already full room rather than have me sleep rough in the nearby state park. After dinner we were joined by the lovely Leigh and we all had a great time knitting, spinning, and yakkity-yakking in the hotel lobby, much to the consternation of the non-knitting guests, especially the ones trying to watch a movie. There is a great picture of this here. That's me in the striped shirt.
Show us your loot! Show us your loot! What's that? You want to see my loot? Sorry, but that will have to wait until tomorrow when there is time and daylight for taking pictures. In the meantime I leave you with this one:
Hey lady! Hands off the fleece!
Can you see Sandy (in the sunglasses)? She's thinking "Now who did Norma stop to talk to?" LOL
Loot pics tomorrow.
