August 2006 Archives
As I mentioned in my last post, I am going to be teaching a beginner knitting class starting in just a few weeks (yikes!) and so I have been spending quite a lot of time designing a baby sweater to use as the main project for the six week course. Here are versions 1 and 3.
I'm going to be teaching at one of our local yarn shops! Over the fall and winter I will be teaching three courses: Beginners Knitting, Teen Beginners Knitting, and Introduction to Felting (Bowls and Baskets). So I have been swatching like crazy and knitting samples for the first course. I think a baby sweater will be the main project. I've got my first crack at it (in leftover Decor) nearly done and will hopefully be able to post a photo tomorrow.
In other knitting...
I've just come from Dave's blog, where he posted pics of his freshly knit scarf in Manos del Uruguay color 102. I commented that it looked familiar. I was right.
But just to be sure, I did some digging in the drawer that I keep all my old ball bands and labels in (um, yeah). And I found this. Hah!
The beaded shawlette is finished.
I am very pleased with it. I have calluses on my thumbs and forefingers from struggling with the beads, but it was totally worth it. Still, if I am going to knit 20,000 stitches and individually place 2,040 beads, I want more than a shoulder-skimming kerchief. So I blocked it rather *ahem* severely.
